geomatics . ecology . design . . .(1) About Me
Hi there!
I was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have lived in the eastern part of Nova Scotia throughout my school years and earned an undergraduate degree in biology/engineering from StFX University in Antigonish, NS. After graduation from StFX, i have held an ‘eclectic’ variety of positions ranging from graphic designer, touring musician, forestry worker, consultant and biological research. The opportunity to work in such a wide (some would say disparate) range of industries has been a true privelege, and given me a unique perspective on todays workplace.
I am currently a student at NSCC-COGS studying Geographic Information Systems. My I am also in the process of completing a part-time MSc in Forest Ecology from St Francis Xavier University. My thesis is entitled ‘Disturbance related successional pathways in old-field forests within the Pictou-Antigonish highlands of Nova Scotia’. For more details, check out my research section on the resume/cv page. I have had the good fortune of being able to integrate some of my MSc research into my studies at COGS.
I am an amateur photographer, with a particular interest in nature, urban and abstract photography. If you are interested in seeing some of my work, please visit my page on flickr. I am also a multi-instrumentalist specializing in stringed instruments (guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin). I dabble in piano and drums…
If you are a potential employer, feel free to take a look at my resume for more information about my background, achievements and interests. Thanks!
